Strength and conditioning training
for handball players

A strength and conditioning program for handball players must be designed based on its uniqueness, diversity and many other specifics, which identify it as a special team game. Consequently, it is necessary to respect, recognize, distinguish and develop all those general and specific factors that can maximally contribute to efficiency, effectiveness and success in this sport.

Individual strength and conditioning training in handball is a system of knowledge and an algorithm of events that requires a strength and conditioning coach for handball players, je sistem znanja i algoritam događaja koji nalaže da based on full knowledge of all the characteristics of this sport, to develop and design a qualitative specific conditioning handball training program.

Therefore, he must have a thorough knowledge of the the game of handball, and above all: all its general and specific motor, physiological, functional, methodical and psychological requirements, adequate periodization of sports training (characteristics of the preparatory, competitive and transitional period in handball, block periodization, structure and different types of individual training, microcycles and mesocycles, as well as ways of establishing and maintaining sports form), supercompensation, recovery, rehabilitation methods, monitoring development and progress, and all this in relation to the organization and system of competitions in handball.

In doing so, it is necessary to analyze the capacity of manifestation of general and specific motor skills in handball in relation to other crucial factors that are the basis of its creation and determinants of the practical application of the strength and conditioning program.
